There is no doubt about long term trends if one goes back to the Pleistocene for the start. There is no proof that anthropogenic 3% of the CO2 cycle is responsible. The models produce warming that is simply not happening, and has not happened for 12 years. The actual data show heat balance for the tropics (Lindzen and Choi, 2009) and the models appear to all have disturbing commonality of data in, garbage out. Models are not science!

The Ecuadorian proposal is basically a sham. Not exploiting the oil in Yasuni park will not avoid creating 410 million tons of carbon dioxide. It will just shift the creation of carbon dioxide from one place on the planet to another.

Moreover, given Ecuador's recent record in breaking contracts, there is no assurance that Ecuador will keep its word and not exploit the oil in Yasuni park.

The issue we have at hand is very well positioned in this article, and the Plug In Singapore event appears to be a timely reminder. I wrote a response to this study. Lifestyle changes are good, but they can only slow emissions growth slightly, they will not reduce emissions. Personal lifestyle changes can only have an impact of a few percent at most. We cannot ignore the other 95 percent of the problem. Some have suggested that we can forget about caps and just focus on behavioural changes, which is insane.

China and India have made the correct decision. Carbon dioxide, contrary to the gospel of the ICCP, is not the problem, and will not lead to substantial warming of the atmosphere. Particle emissions are a serious health and environmental problem. China and India, for their own good, and the good of all, should put particle srubbers on their coal and biomass power plants. If the ICCP member nations really wanted to do something substantial with respect to climate change and atmospheric pollution, they wouldnt spend another euro on research, they would pay China and India to retrofit their current power plants with particle scrubbers and filters.

You fail to mention that we are currently producing more than enough electricity for the expected increase in EV's. We would be using off peak hours (night).
If we produced none we would still have to CLEAN up coal fired plants. Also, you do not factor in the reduction in cost of batteries almost assured if the Government leaves the industry alone(like they did with computers).

One more way that people can "recycle" items is to gift them to someone when they no longer need them, OR even creatively reuse them for a new purpose beyond the original one.

The ReUseIt Network has groups all around the world doing this very thing. Our members gift items they no longer need to someone else who can use them.

We also promote creative reuse, such as an old freezer becoming a snail farm and old baby walker becoming tomato cages.

I do agree hit the 2020 KPI of tourism is a big challenge. A lof of Singaporean don't like work in the service industry and think the job is no respect. Education local people to work in related area is long term task. So the software of hospitality and tourism can increase.

Amen, but I thought that the standard for offshore diving in SEA in the oil industry followed AODC standards? I lived in Singapore for 7 GREAT years from 1975 to 1982 as a comercial diver. Things were different then, but most of the companies that I know of now follow similar standards worldside.

PS - Is there any of the Old Time divers from the 70's still around in Singapore?

This is a large and awesome pollution that is nearing Rote and Timor Islands. Not only whales (and wild life) but also local people there will die from starving if pollution is not controlled. The soothing talks of Australian gouvernment are not the truth. Foreigners surfers are now in Rote not to surf but to perform a survey on the impact of the oil and chemicals on the Rote shore and waters.
