SINGAPORE: The company that owns the plant that caught fire in Tuas on Friday night has said that no harmful chemicals have been detected in the air and water around the area.
The waste management company said the tests were carried out by the National Environment Agency.
Veolia Environmental Services added that it is co-operating fully with local authorities on the matter.
The smell of chemicals was still present when Channel NewsAsia visited the scene of the fire on Saturday.
Flammable chemicals from the plant had fuelled the fire on Friday.
Workers Channel NewsAsia spoke to said the smell was strong on Friday, but was less pungent on Saturday.
One worker said: "We experienced a choking sensation when we were at a T-Junction not far from here this morning. But the smell was less strong when we arrived."
